Clerk of the Court
|NATURE OF WORK:|
|Performs specialized, complex advanced court/office support and clerical work of a technical and highly responsible nature. Position requires analysis, initiative and judgment to apply practices, regulations and policies to a variety of difficult and varied work situations.|
|Performs complex legal clerical work in the recording and processing of Superior Court proceedings; summarizes and prepares court proceedings in minute entry form; prepares and processes formal orders and documents at the direction of the judge; issues court related documents; certifies documents; assists probation officers, attorneys and the public by responding to their request for information; record, tag, secure and inventory all exhibits submitted to the court; administer oaths and affirmations to court participants; accept, record, certify, initiate, correct; amend, distribute/mail, and secure/seal a variety of court documents; docket all court proceedings in automated record database; prepare judgments and final dispositions; give notice of felony convictions to proper authorities. Verifies and checks work for completeness and accuracy and resolves errors and omissions. Keep records of matters taken under advisement to assure judge=s ruling within time limitations set by law; record and monitor case activities for compliance with legal time constraints; prepare for jury trial and ensure all procedures and rules are strictly adhered to during the jury trial process. May be required to stay after working hours and weekends to clerk hearings.|
|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:|
|Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and grammatical usage. Knowledge of word processing programs. Ability to follow oral and written instructions; plan work and carry through to completion, recognizing pertinent time limits for varied projects; work effectively with employees, elected officials, other agencies and the public; maintain confidentiality of court matters.|
|High school graduate. Knowledge of legal terminology preferred but not required.|

This position pays $12.59 per hour
