202205001 TEMP ELECTION WORKER – Open until filled

NATURE OF WORK:

Under direct supervision, assist with voter information and programs; interacting in-person with the public and requires flexibility as election schedules and workloads may vary.

Typical Duties

  • Participate as a greeter, direct customers to appropriate service station, and provides customer assistance;
  • Issue ballots to voters, instruct voters on how to mark ballots correctly, explain where to vote and cast ballots;
  • Assist voters using voting machines;
  • May set-up and take-down equipment, materials, and signage at voting locations;
  • May transport election materials to and from Early Voting sites across Apache County
  • Review, sort, and batch voter registration forms and other election-related documents;
  • Prepare, distribute, and pick-up supplies for polling places, outreach events, training classes, and other election events;
  • Answer inquiries and provide information to callers and visitors regarding elections, voter registration, office hours, and office/building locations;
  • Perform other related duties, as required.

Special Requirements

  • Ability to travel to alternate locations in the course of work.
  • Possession of a valid Arizona driver’s license
  • Must be able to qualify and register to vote in Arizona.
  • Help with interpreting the ballot in the Navajo Language if assigned on the Navajo Nation

  • Learn how to facilitate voting at a voting location;
  • Follow and understand oral and written instructions;
  • Work irregular long hours, including some nights and weekends,
  • Stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to keep all personal political opinions out of the workplace and respect voter opinions
  • Lift up to 25lbs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. and any combination of training, education or experience which demonstrates the potential to perform the duties of the position.

(Positions is in classified service and is FLSA non-exempt)

This position’s hourly pay is $13.69
